The Music Man - Brighton, MI
EST 1993
Locally Owned and Operated
The Music Man was born in 1993. Its founder, Michael Grass, has been a professional touring musician for over 3 decades—playing clubs, concert halls and arenas around the United States and Canada.
That performing experience, including recording studios, performing on radio and tv, teaching and repairing guitars helped him gain an understanding of the skills necessary for musicians to advance as players and earn a living as musicians.
In 2023, Mike retired, and 15 year veteran of the team, Anthony DePollo took ownership and continues to operate the shop, with Mike working part time, and a dedicated team supporting operations.
Everyone at The Music Man has a passion for music. Our main focus is guitar, but we offer a wide variety of instruments, lessons and repair.
What Sets The Music Man Apart from the Competition?
The reason for our success is our caring and knowledgeable employees. While having knowledge of instruments and music is important, it is equally important to be a good person. It is ingrained in The Music Man culture to go the extra mile and help our customers--providing knowledge, kindness and honesty. Everyone working in the store truly wants to help our customers. We all want to do what is right for everyone who enters our doors or contacts us online. In fact, very often our customers become friends. Consequently, we get to see lots of friends every day.
Beauty Found in Vintage Guitars and More
One of our favorite aspects of running a music store is that we often get to see really cool vintage instruments. We buy them whenever possible and display them for or customers to see and purchase. We have a large number of customers that come to us for advice on the age and value of an instrument. Since the beginning, vintage instruments have been a large part of our business and that knowledge is a significant part of what we offer to our customers.
Vast Selection, Top Brands, and Affordable Pricing
You may have noticed that local music stores are disappearing and that the selection and variety of brand names in many of those surviving stores is getting smaller. Often, we hear from our customers—especially the new ones—that they are impressed with our huge selection and the quality of instruments and brand names. We pride ourselves on offering a wide selection of instruments at all price levels. If you need a starter instrument, we have it! If you need a guitar to take on tour, we have it too.
We offer personal service to each of our customers that big box stores cannot provide. You won’t come into our store and be ignored. We will give you all of the help you need. Beyond that, we will give you all of the space you need. We never push anything on our customers. We ask questions, listen to the answer, and then make a recommendation based on that information.
Developing Relationships with Suppliers Since 1993
In the nearly three decades that we have been in business, we have developed great relationships with our suppliers. We work with the biggest name brands in the musical instrument industry who provide us with excellent service. Those relationships allow us to provide better quality service to our customers. The guitar companies rely on us to provide warranty repair service for our customers. It is not something that they take lightly. They expect quality work by a knowledgeable repair staff. They trust us to do quality repair work. You can too.
